Coffee, tea, and other rituals in the wild
Stopping for coffee or tea next to the road is an essential part of travelling in southern Africa.
Travelling safely but without losing your sense of adventure
Travelling safely in Southern Africa does not mean giving up adventure, whether you’re hiking in the Drakensberg, going on safaris in Kruger or having coastal experiences along the Garden Route.

Namibia is a vast, striking country, known for desert landscapes, dramatic coastlines and endless open spaces. Summer brings the rainy season, although rainfall remains lighter than in other neighbouring countries. Warm temperatures, occasional storms and clear desert mornings create excellent photography and rewarding travel experiences.

Tips for summer travel in Namibia

The weather varies significantly between regions. The coast remains cool and foggy, while areas like Etosha, Damaraland and the central highlands experience hot days with short, refreshing showers. Pack clothing for warm weather, but include a jersey for the cooler coastal areas.

Etosha changes during the rains. The famous waterholes become less predictable as animals spread out, but lush landscapes and unique skies make game drives enjoyable. Birdwatching becomes exceptional as migratory species arrive.

The Skeleton Coast and Swakopmund offer a cooler escape from inland heat. Activities like kayaking, sandboarding, scenic flights and dolphin boat trips remain popular during summer.
